Technology For Better Hosting
Uh-oh! Your Airbnb just got hit with its first 4-star review. Cue the dramatic music. But fear not! Contrary to the initial panic that your life is over, it's not.
Data suggests that an occasional 4-star review is not going to hurt you in the search algorithm and that quantity of reviews matters more. You got a review, yay!
Of course, if you're anything like me, you might obsess over the math and wonder if you can ever achieve that lofty 5-star status ever again.
The answer is, you can!
Evidence demonstrates obtaining an actual average rating of 4.995 or higher, Airbnb will round up and display that as 5.0 (I'd welcome any evidence to the contrary!). If you're sitting on 4.994, you'll see 4.99. Get to 4.995, you'll see 5.0 again!
I recently stumbled across a listing with 254 5-star reviews and one 4-star review that displayed at 5.0. That equates to a 4.996 average, so it's definitely possible!
That got me thinking...
How can I get back to a 5-star average after my own first 4-star guest review?
If you've ever wondered the same, this calculator is for you!
Try out this simple little calculator to find out how many consecutive 5-star reviews you'll need to get back to displaying 5.00. Simply enter in the quantity of each numbered-star review you have currently and we'll show you how many more 5-star reviews you need.
Bookmark this page and return every time you get a new review that is below 5-star.
